What is Active Release Technique

dr. mark wensely chiropractic office Victoria

This is a hands-on touch and case management system that allows the certified practitioner to diagnose and treat soft tissue injuries. Soft tissue refers primarily to muscle, tendon, fascia and nerves.

The specific injuries to these structures include: repetitive strains, adhesions (also known as trigger points or knots), and joint dysfunctions. Treatment involves finding the adhesion or tender area in the soft tissue, blocking the point with my thumb and having the patient actively move the affected tissue under my contact.

As the tissue with its adhesion move under my contact it breaks down and the body replaces the abnormal tender tissue with new health tissue. The patient will over time, depending on the extent of the injury, start to experience increased mobility and increased performance.
